Kendrapara, Feb. 11 -- Additional District & Sessions Judge -cum-Special Judge under POCSO Act, of Kendrapara, Prangya Parmita Raul, on Tuesday, convicted a private tutor and sentenced him to 20 years Rigorous Imprisonment(RI) along with a fine of Rs 50,000 for raping a nine-year-old minor girl.
The judge ordered that the convict would further undergo another year of imprisonment if he failed to deposit the fine amount, Manoj Kumar Sahoo, Special Public Prosecutor of Additional District Judge -cum-special judge(POCSO) said.
According to Sahoo, the convict, identified as Prasanta Das, a resident of Badahalupada under Rajkanika police station used to go to the minor girl's house for private tuitions.
