Bhubaneswar, Oct. 26 -- A team of doctors at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Campus-2 at Phulnakhara, have achieved a breakthrough in healthcare by performing the first-of-its-kind hybrid procedure in Odisha to save the lives of a woman and her baby.
The woman, 30-weeks pregnant and diagnosed with the complex Placenta Increta Syndrome, was admitted into the hospital after which a team of doctors drawn from departments of Interventional Radiology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology decided to go ahead with the innovative hybrid procedure.
The procedure involved uterine artery embolization and lower segment caesarian section (LSCS) on the same table-a true hybrid approach.
