Bhubaneswar, Oct. 15 -- All three major Odisha political parties, the BJP, BJD, and Congress, have declared their candidates for the Nuapada Assembly by-election, scheduled to be held on November 11, setting the stage for an essentially triangular contest.
While the Congress and BJP had already declared their nominees, the BJD today named former minister and Biju Mahila Janata Dal president Snehagini Chhuria as its candidate. The announcement was made by BJD supremo and former chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
The by-election was necessitated following the demise of sitting BJD MLA and former minister Rajendra Dholakia, who had represented the constituency four times - once as an Independent and thrice as a BJD candidate.
