Bhubaneswar, Jan. 29 -- In an anti-corruption operation, the Odisha Vigilance Department on Thursday intercepted an associate professor of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, and seized cash amounting to Rs.2.63 lakh, suspected to be ill-gotten.

According to vigilance sources, Dr Sanatana Behera, associate professor in the Department of Hepatology, was intercepted at Kathagolasahi-Medical Road in Cuttack while he was on his way to his government residential quarters.

The action was taken based on credible inputs alleging that he had collected illegal cash from participating bidders involved in the supply of medical instruments to the Hepatology Department.
