Bhubaneswar, Feb. 19 -- In order to tackle the growing menace of cybercrime, Odisha Police have launched a statewide campaign, 'Operation Cyber Kavach', targeting illegal financial networks. Over the course of one week, the police investigated 1,166 benami bank accounts, arrested 84 accused, and issued legal notices to 293 suspicious account holders and associates linked to 29 new and 29 old FIRs.
During the operation, 82 cases related to benami accounts, five cases of cheque fraud, and three cases involving fake SIM or PoS were filed.
DGP Y B Khurania said the Odisha Police remain fully committed to ensuring citizens' digital security by dismantling the financial networks of cybercriminals.
