Bhubaneswar, May 11 -- The Odisha government on Monday commenced Rabi paddy procurement from Bargarh district, marking the beginning of the seasonal procurement process that will eventually cover 20 districts across the state.

Official sources said a total of 1,05,494 farmers have registered for paddy procurement in Bargarh district this season, of which 96,377 farmers have already been issued procurement tokens.

The procurement process in Balasore, Cuttack, Puri, and Sambalpur districts is scheduled to begin on May 15.

According to official data, 38,113 farmers have registered in Balasore, 3,518 in Cuttack, 22,236 in Puri, and 19,113 in Sambalpur for the current Rabi procurement season.
