Bhubaneswar, Jan. 21 -- The Odisha government has officially banned the production, sale, storage, transportation, and trade of all tobacco- and nicotine-containing products, including gutkha, pan masala, zarda, and khaini, across the state.
The move follows directions from the Supreme Court and is aimed at protecting public health, especially the well-being of children and young people.
The prohibition has been enacted under Section 2.3.4 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011.
