Bhubaneswar, Feb. 9 -- Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Monday called for a widespread movement to raise awareness about eye donation, describing it as a safe, noble and life-changing act that restores vision and hope to thousands.
He urged schools, colleges, community organisations, religious institutions and youth groups to play an active role in encouraging people to pledge their eyes and dispel long-standing myths surrounding eye donation.
The Governor was speaking at the celebration of the 20,000 cornea collection milestone under the "Gift of Sight" programme at the L V Prasad Eye Institute in Bhubaneswar.
