Bhubaneswar, Feb. 19 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday strongly criticized the opposition, particularly the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress, for boycotting a discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address and disrupting proceedings in the Assembly.

Terming their behaviour "extremely disappointing," Majhi said that shutting down the Assembly will not earn legitimacy from the people and undermines the democratic process.

Replying to the motion of thanks, Majhi emphasized that the debate traditionally provides a platform for both ruling and opposition parties to present constructive views, which inform government programs for public welfare.
