Bhubaneswar, Feb. 4 -- From the revered shrine of Maa Tara Tarini in Odisha's Ganjam district, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday presided over the collective marriage of 201 couples and performed the Kanyadaan ceremony under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana.
During the event, the Chief Minister announced that the scheme will be implemented across all districts of the state from 2025-26 to 2029-30, with a total budgetary provision exceeding Rs 59 crore.
Describing the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana as more than a conventional welfare programme, Majhi said it is a unique initiative aimed at strengthening social security and ensuring dignity for women.
