Puri, Aug. 4 -- The body of the Balanga minor girl, who succumbed to severe burn injuries at AIIMS, Delhi, was brought to her native village, Bayabar Nua Gopalpur, under Balanga police station limits, late Sunday night amid tight police security.

On Monday, following Islamic rituals, a Moulavi read out the Kalma, after which the girl was laid to rest in a coffin at the Kabrastan (burial ground) near the village.

Anticipating possible unrest, authorities deployed two platoons of police in the village, while Balanga police station remained under strict security cover. Senior officials, including Puri Superintendent of Police Pinak Mishra, were stationed in Balanga to monitor the situation.
