Bhubaneswar, Jan. 25 -- Bowing to widespread criticism on social media, Koraput District Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan on Saturday revoked his earlier order that prohibited the sale of non-vegetarian food items on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day on January 26.
Earlier, on January 23, the Collector had issued an official directive instructing Tahasildars, Block Development Officers (BDOs), and Executive Officers to enforce a ban on the sale of meat, fish, eggs, and other non-vegetarian food items across the district on Republic Day.
District administration sources said the decision was taken following a proposal discussed during a meeting of the District-Level Republic Day Preparatory Committee.
