Bhubaneswar, Jan. 6 -- In a landmark verdict the Padmapur POCSO Court in Odisha's Bargarh district on Tuesday sentenced accused, Prashant Bag alias Bariha, to death along with life imprisonment, for rape and brutal murder of a 6-year-old girl.
In addition, the court has directed a financial compensation of Rs.15 lakh to be provided to the victim's family.
The case dates back to November 15, 2024, in Soda village under Paikmal police station, where a complaint was lodged following the tragic incident.
The investigation, conducted under the direct supervision of Bargarh District SP Prahlad Saha Meena and led by Inspector Mamata Nayak, utilized modern forensic methods, including DNA analysis, to gather conclusive evidence.
