Bhubaneswar, March 27 -- BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced the names of party candidates for nine Lok Sabha and 72 Assembly seats, where elections will be held in first phase in Odisha.

Ruling BJD is the first political party in the state to announce the list of party candidates for Assembly constituencies, as both the Assembly (147 seats) and Lok Sabha (21 seats) polls will be held simultaneously in Odisha.

Odisha will go to polls in four phases on May 13, 20, 25 and June 1.

The principal Opposition party BJP in the state has already announced the names of party candidates for 18 of the 21 Lok Sabha seats and is yet to release the names of candidates for Assembly seats.
