Hyderabad, March 1 -- Demanding an increase in disabled pension to Rs 6,000, immediate distribution of assistive devices and higher budgetary allocations, the National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD) has announced a mass hunger strike in Hyderabad on March 13.

Addressing a press conference at the organisation's state office in Chikkadapalli, NPRD Telangana State General Secretary M Adivaiah said the Congress government had failed to implement promises made during the Assembly elections even after 27 months in power.

He alleged that instead of increasing pensions, the government had cancelled thousands of Cheyutha and disabled pensions across the state.
