Chennai, Jan. 19 -- As dry weather has been prevailing for the last coupleof days and no rainfall reported, the Northeast (NE) monsoon has ceased overSoutheast peninsular India on Monday.
Met office said the NE monsoon, which had set in during October should haveended by December 30, 2025.
Since in an unsual phenomena a new Low Pressure Area had formed in Januarythis year that brought rains, became Well marked, intensified into a Depressionand later as Deep Depresson before crossing the Sri Lanka coast last week, Metoffice said the NE mosson had stretched to this month.
Once the Deep Depression over the Bay had weakened and crossed the Lankancoast as a Low Pressure area, the rainfall activity in Tamil Nadu abated considerably.
