Hyderabad, March 25 -- The Telangana government on Wednesday dismissed rumours of shortages of petrol, diesel and LPG, assuring that stocks are sufficient and supply is running ahead of demand across the state.

Addressing a press conference, Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Ravindra, said oil marketing companies are maintaining surplus supplies.

Against a demand of 17,246 kilolitres (KL), supplies stood at 17,898 KL on the day, leaving an excess of about 652 KL.

The Minister said panic buying had led to a sudden 25 per cent spike in demand, but supplies were being maintained at about 22 per cent above normal levels to ensure uninterrupted availability.
