Bengaluru, Feb. 4 -- Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Wednesday said allegations against ministers cannot be accepted unless backed by concrete evidence, asserting that mere claims or statements do not constitute proof, amid BJP demands for the resignation of Excise Minister RB Thimmapur over alleged corruption in the excise department.

Speaking to reporters here, Parameshwara said the government had made its position clear and challenged the opposition to place direct evidence on record. "If you have definite evidence, produce it. The minister concerned is ready to resign. He himself has stated on the floor of the House that if evidence is presented, he is prepared to step down," he said.
