Bengaluru, Feb. 17 -- In a bold bet on India's growing aerospace ambitions, Tata will begin manufacturing helicopters at its newly inaugurated facility at Vemgal near Bengaluru despite having no confirmed government or defence orders, with the first aircraft expected to take flight by mid-2027.

The Airbus-Tata H125 Helicopter Assembly Line was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron from Mumbai in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Bengaluru.

The project reflects India's steady march towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing and deeper strategic partnerships with friendly nations.
