Bhubaneswar, Feb. 4 -- In a significant ruling against illegal immigration, the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday convicted nine Bangladeshi nationals under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946, in a case registered by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Police.
Based on the evidence presented during the trial, the court sentenced each of the accused to two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on each individual.
The court further ruled that failure to pay the fine would result in an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment.
