Visakhapatnam, Feb. 2 -- : Nine fishermen from Vizianagaram district, who were detained by the Bangladesh Navy, were released following sustained diplomatic efforts by the Centre and the Andhra Pradesh government.
The fishermen reached Visakhapatnam on Sunday and were received by local officials.
The fishermen were apprehended in October 2025 after they inadvertently crossed into Bangladesh waters while fishing. Their detention caused prolonged anxiety among family members, with uncertainty prevailing for nearly three months. The Andhra Pradesh Government immediately took up the matter with the Centre.
