New Delhi, June 20 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh after it took suo motu cognizance of a media report concerning the brutal public assault of a woman by a local moneylender in Narayanapuram village, Kuppam Mandal, Chittoor district, in the Southern State.

The top rights body has called for a detailed report in the matter within two weeks, according to a statement from the NHRC here.
