New Delhi, Feb. 1 -- While Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a slew of announcements to boost tourism highlighting the "big role of the tourism sector in generating employment", the negligible allocation for overseas promotions and marketing of brand Incredible India internationally has dampened the spirit of the industry.

As per the demands for grants for the Tourism Ministry for 2026-27, over 87 per cent of the Budget estimate of Rs 2,438.40 crore is for Centrally assisted infrastructure projects, with negligible allocation for domestic and overseas promotions.
