Chennai, Aug. 26 -- Nearly 3,000 to 4,000 idols of Lord Ganesha of various hues and sizeswere installed in every nook and corner of Tamil Nadu as part of Vinayaka Chathurthifestival celebrations beginning tomorrow.

Police sources said of them, 1,159 idols would installed in various locations across Chennai Cityfor which police permission were given to enable the public to offer worship.

The idols of the Elephantine God in various avatars, installed by various organisations and Hinduoutfits including Hindu Munnani, dotted the entire city before they were taken in a procession,during which police have banned bursting of crackers, for immersion in the sea on Sunday.
