Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 31 -- The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has ordered an investigation into the Kerala Local Self-Government Department's decision to create posts and regularise nearly 900 contract technical assistants in local self-government institutions, amid allegations that the move violates Scheduled Caste reservation norms.
The probe follows a complaint submitted by BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha state president Shajumon Vattekkad to the NCSC chairman, urging immediate intervention to stop the regularisation of contract staff through what he termed "backdoor appointments".
Acting on the complaint, the Commission sought a detailed report from the state government in the matter.
