Sangli, July 10 -- Sangli Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) vice-president Dattatreya Patole was murdered by three unidentified persons with sharp-edged weapons at Miraj Industrial Estate, of the city on Friday.
Sangli city police said, Patole (45) was going to the city on his motorcycle, when he was intercepted near Rohini Cold Storage at Miraj Industrial Estate, by three unidentified persons, who attacked him with knives and chopper, killing him on the spot.
After killing him, the assailants fled the spot, police said.
The deceased was appointed as NCP vice-president two years ago.
Preliminary investigations revealed financial feud as the reason behind the murder.
