Srinagar, Sept. 5 -- The ruling Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) today said the management of sacred spaces like Hazratbal shrine must remain above controversy and urged that any differences be resolved through dialogue and humility rather than arrests or coercive measures.
The revered Hazratbal shrine during the day became the centre of a political storm after a group of devotees defaced the inscription of the national emblem on an inauguration plaque.
The Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board and BJP leader Darakshan Andrabi termed the incident as "a terrorist attack", and urged the police to book those involved.
