Ghaziabad, Sept. 23 -- In a historic operation on the first day of Navratri, an all-women police team in Ghaziabad conducted the city's first-ever encounter led entirely by women officers.
The team successfully apprehended a wanted criminal following a brief chase and gunfight near Lohia Nagar late last night.
The accused, identified as Jitendra, son of Nandkishore and a resident of Sector-9, Vijay Nagar, is a known history-sheeter with over 10 cases of theft and robbery registered against him.
The operation was part of a routine night checking led by SHO Mahila Thana Ritu Tyagi, assisted by two women sub-inspectors and two women head constables.
