Amravati, Jan. 19 -- Former BJP MP Navneet Rana received a fresh death threat from an unidentified caller who allegedly contacted the city police control room directly, police said on Monday.

Officials said the caller warned that Rana should not take the threat lightly and threatened to kill her, making a reference to a recent high-profile murder case in Mumbai. The call triggered an immediate alert within the police department.

Following the incident, security arrangements for Rana were reviewed and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel deployed for her protection were instructed to remain on high alert.

A formal complaint was lodged by Rana's personal assistant, Sachin Sonawane, at Rajapeth Police Station.
