New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- Former Odisha chief minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik arrived in the national capital, a day ahead of the vice presidential election. Sources close to the veteran leader termed the visit as "purely private" and unrelated to any political developments.

Sources said Patnaik will be in Delhi for a few days. They clarified that since he owns a residence in the city, his visits are frequent and should not be viewed through a political lens.

"Being a political figure, it is natural that people may come to meet him, but this visit should not be interpreted as having any political agenda," a source said, refusing to comment on his specific engagements during the stay.
