New Delhi, April 16 -- Authorities have stepped up nationwide enforcement to curb hoarding and black marketing of LPG, with coordinated action by central and state agencies to safeguard supply amid the ongoing geopolitical situation.

More than 2,500 raids were conducted across the country on April 15, while oil marketing companies penalised 238 LPG distributorships and suspended 63 for irregularities.

States and union Territories have been empowered under the Essential Commodities Act and LPG Control Order to closely monitor supply and take strict action, backed by control rooms and district-level monitoring mechanisms.
