Latur, Dec. 12 -- Twenty-four children from Latur district diagnosed with congenital heart defects have been sent to Pune for free cardiac surgeries under the National Child Health Programme. The children, accompanied by their parents, departed for Pune where they will undergo treatment at leading hospitals.

Before their journey, District Collector Varsha Thakur Ghuge and Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Rahul Kumar Meena met the families at the collector's office and offered their best wishes. The interaction was attended by Deputy Director of Health Dr Rekha Gaikwad, District Surgeon Dr Pradeep Dhele, Resident Medical Officer Dr Ashok Sarda, Dr Anand Kalme, and National Child Health Programme staff.
