New Delhi, Jan. 25 -- President Droupadi Murmu, on the eve of the 77th Republic Day, approved Gallantry Awards to 70 personnel of the country's armed forces, that include six conferred posthumously.
The second Indian who ever travelled to space, Indian Air Force Group Captain and astronaut, Shubhanshu Shukla, has been conferred with the nation's highest peacetime gallantry award, the Ashoka Chakra.
The total awards include, one Ashok Chakra, three Kirti Chakras, 13 Shaurya Chakras (one posthumous), one Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry), 44 Sena Medals (Gallantry) (five posthumous), six Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry) and two Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).
