Nagpur, Sept. 2 -- A 25-year-old woman from Beltarodi, Nagpur, lost Rs 24 lakh in an alleged cyber fraud after falling prey to a fake stock market investment scheme, police said today.
Police said the fraud began on June 23, when the woman received a WhatsApp message promising high returns through stock investments. Expressing interest in long-term options, she was added to a WhatsApp group named C21 Paisa Capital Limited.
In the group, a man identifying himself as Anand Rathi gained her trust by sharing regular stock tips. He later asked her to download a mobile application and directed her to transfer money for investments.
Over time, she deposited a total of Rs 23.7 lakh into accounts linked to two individuals, Aarohi Sinha and Anand....
