Dimapur, Jan. 28 -- More than 30 trekkers have been evacuated from Dzukou Valley, following a wildfire that erupted in the southern part of the valley on Monday in Nagaland, according to the Kohima district administration.

The district administration and Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) have launched rescue operations in the wake of the wildfire.

The SAYO issued a temporary suspension of trekking to the valley following the outbreak of the fire on the trails leading to the valley.

It said the fire has been blazing uncontrollably, posing serious risk to all trekkers.

The SAYO said the suspension of trekking applies to both the entry points from Jakbama and Viswema until further notice.
