Bengaluru, April 16 -- In a development that underscores growing unease within the Congress party's traditional support base, Muslim clerics in Karnataka on Thursday accused the party of sidelining minorities and risking a backlash from the AHINDA (minorities, backward classes and Dalits) bloc over what they termed as "family-centric politics" in the Davanagere South byelection.

Addressing a joint press conference under the banner of Ulama Karnataka, Mufti Iftikhar Ahmad Qasmi of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind alleged that recent disciplinary actions against Muslim leaders reflected a pattern of "arbitrary and selective targeting," raising concerns over internal equity within the party.
