Mumbai, Feb. 15 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday announced the immediate suspension of an engineer of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in the Mulund metro pillar accident in which one person was killed and three others injured.
Speaking to media in Mumbai on Sunday, the Deputy CM identified the suspended engineer as Satyajit Salve and said MMRDA has imposed a penalty of Rs 5 crore on the contractor involved in the project.
Shinde stated that the Chief Minister had already declared financial assistance for the family of the deceased. He added that the entire medical expenses of the injured persons will be borne by MMRDA.
