Mumbai, Aug. 12 -- The city police agreed to grant permission to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] to hold a "peaceful assembly" at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai on August 20 officials said here today.
This protest is aimed at expressing concerns over the alleged genocide occurring in Gaza territory of Palestine.
The statement was made before the Bombay high court, which is hearing a petition filed by CPI(M) challenging the refusal of permission by the police to hold a demonstration citing law and order situation.
Following this, the petitioner's counsel, senior advocate Mihir Desai, said that they will hold the peaceful assembly from 3 pm to 6 pm.
