Mumbai, March 5 -- The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has been fined heavily by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) after several ST bus drivers were found exceeding speed limits on highways.
The total penalty imposed has crossed Rs 1.5 crore. However, the corporation has appealed to the State Transport Department to waive the entire fine, citing several operational challenges.
According to reports, the highest number of speed limit violations were recorded on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Traffic congestion is a frequent issue on this route.
