Dumka, Feb. 24 -- Motor Workers' union president Arun Singh was shot at by unidentified bike-borne assailants near the bus stand and the office of the Deputy Inspector General early Tuesday morning, police said.
The incident occurred around 6 am, a few metres from the Dumka Nagar police station area. According to police, the attackers targeted Singh, who is also associated with newspaper distribution work, and opened fire before fleeing the spot.
Superintendent of Police Pitamber Singh Kherwar reached the scene soon after receiving information and inspected the site, collecting details from local residents. He said Singh sustained a bullet injury and one empty cartridge was recovered from the spot.
