Washim, Oct. 18 -- A seven-year-old girl named Diwanshi Gawande, resident of village Varud (Bo) in Mangrulpir taluka of Washim district, has been given a new lease of life after her mother donated a portion of her liver for transplantation.

The child had been suffering from a severe liver ailment for several months, showing no signs of recovery despite prolonged treatment. Her condition led the family to seek advanced medical help - first in Akola, then in Nagpur - where doctors diagnosed her liver as critically damaged and advised an immediate transplant as the only option.

The family, however, faced a major financial obstacle, as the transplant cost was estimated at Rs 20 lakh, an amount far beyond their means. Diwanshi's father, Ravind...
