Bengaluru, March 16 -- Most encroachments on Karnataka's Wakf land are reportedly carried out by members of the Muslim community themselves, Minister for Wakf and Minority Welfare BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan told the Legislative Assembly on Monday.

Answering a question from Afzalpur Congress MLA MY Patil, Khan said the state has 1,12,860 acres of Wakf property, of which only 20,054 acres remain under government control. He added that 17,969 acres have been encroached, 47,263 acres are under the Inam Abolition Act, and 23,627 acres fall under the Land Reforms Act.
