Aizawl, Feb. 23 -- Mizoram's Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister C. Lalsawivunga today chaired a programme for the distribution and formal launch of compensation to families who were compelled to cull their pigs during the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in 2024.

The compensation package, amounting to over Rs 15.59 crore, will be disbursed to 5,436 families across the state who collectively lost 26,179 pigs as part of containment measures during the outbreak.
