Aizawl, April 14 -- Mizoram government on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Settlement with the Hmar People's Convention-Democratic (Lalhmingthanga Sanate faction), bringing to a close decades of insurgency linked to the group.

The agreement was formally signed at Vengpui Community Hall in Sakawrdai, with Home Department Secretary David Lalthantluanga representing the Government of Mizoram, and Lalhmingthanga Sanate signing on behalf of the outfit. The ceremony was attended by Adviser to the Chief Minister (Political) Lalmuanpuia Punte and DIG (Northern Range) Rodingliana Chawngthu, among other officials.
