Aizawl, Feb. 11 -- Mizoram has moved to redraw the urban landscape of its capital by combining heritage conservation, religious relocation and infrastructure expansion on land vacated by the Assam Rifles, with the state government clearing a key decision on Wednesday to relocate a centrally located Hindu temple to ease congestion in Aizawl.

At a meeting of the Advisory Committee on land vacated by the Assam Rifles, chaired by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, it was decided that a plot near the historic Loch House would be allotted for shifting the Hari Mandir, currently located in one of the city's most crowded areas. The move is aimed at decongesting the city centre while ensuring continuity of religious activities at a more accessible site.
