Aizawl, Sept. 23 -- Mizoram's Health & Family Welfare Minister, Lalrinpuii, has emphasized the immense potential of the state's naturally occurring medicinal plants to boost the local economy, provided they are protected and cultivated systematically.

Speaking at the National Ayurveda Day 2025 function, Lalrinpuii pointed out that Mizoram's soil, climate, and rainfall conditions are particularly suited for the growth of a variety of trees, bamboos, and medicinal plants.

"If we make concerted efforts to preserve and multiply the wild medicinal plants in the state, it can transform the economy," she said, highlighting the economic opportunities that could arise from a more systematic approach to these natural resources.
