Aizawl, Sept. 29 -- The Mizoram Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has confirmed that the carcass of a wild boar found near Saipum village in Kolasib district was infected with African Swine Fever (ASF).

The bone marrow of the boar, discovered in a jungle area near the Assam border, tested positive for the virus in initial lab results, which were later corroborated by the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry at Selesih, Aizawl, on September 26.

This confirmation has raised concerns about the continuing spread of ASF in the state, which has been grappling with a resurgence of the virus since March 20, when the first outbreak was confirmed in Guwahati.
