Aizawl, March 23 -- In a pre-emptive move to safeguard local fuel availability, authorities in Mizoram's southern districts of Siaha and Lunglei have imposed sweeping restrictions on the export and transportation of petroleum products to neighbouring Myanmar.

The orders, issued separately by the respective Deputy Commissioners acting as District Magistrates, come against the backdrop of concerns over a possible shortage of essential commodities-particularly fuel-amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia that have impacted global oil supply chains.
