Pankaj JainNew Delhi, Jan. 28 -- The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has constituted a high-level Committee to review the functioning of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in Tamil Nadu and recommend measures to enhance their scale, reach and sustainability.
The move follows the intervention of union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who took note of the challenges faced by FPOs during his recent visit to Erode in the state.
During the visit, Chouhan held discussions with farmers and stakeholders, where operational, technical and market-related issues affecting FPOs were highlighted.
