Shillong, July 8 -- The Meghalaya State Human Rights Commission (MHRC) today asked Meghalaya Police to submit a report on the alleged custodial torture of a teenager.



MHRC Chairperson Justice (Retd) T Vaiphei said the commission has taken the cognisance of the incident and asked the Superintendent of Police (SP) East Khasi Hills district, Vivek Syiem to submit an action-taken-report within July 31.



Based on the report, Vaiphei said the MHRC will take action.



On Monday, Mildred Jyrwa, the mother of 19-year-old Getwin Jyrwa, had lodged a complaint with the MHRC to take appropriate action against the officers responsible for the alleged human rights violations.
